Purple Coneflower (2007) 46"H x 46"W x 8" D Framed from bittersweet, the petals are interwoven in various shades of purple. The flower's center is woven with a brown background and a top layer in red. I used various shades of one color, interwoven in a very specific place, to represent light and shade on the flower. View enlargement of construction detail. This piece has been donated to benefit the Arthritis Foundation, Metropolitan D.C. Chapter. It will be featured in the live and silent auction at the Arts for Arthritis Gala to be held at the Ritz Carlton, Pentagon City Hotel on the evening of Saturday, November 8, 2008. |

I used many different shades of one color, interwoven in a very specific place, to represent light and shade on the flower. View construction detail.
